New Jersey will be selecting a person to represent Section 1 and New Jersey on the board of directors of the NIAAA. This person will take office at the NIAAA Conference in Orlando, Florida in 2023. Interested candidates are requested to send their resumes to Dave Suiter, NIAAA liaison, and copy me by March 11, 2022.
To be considered for this position, a candidate must have a minimum of 5 years membership in the NIAAA, 5 years as a DAANJ member, and be actively employed by a school district and have the complete endorsement of the school district superintendent and board
Must have obtained a minimum of a CAA certification and demonstrated some involvement to the NIAAA and DAANJ
Some of the duties include -
Attend board meetings in February, July, and December(usually in Indy)
Attend the NIAAA annual convention
Serve on one or more committees
While representing the section, preside at all NIAAA section meetings
Communicate with state presidents, executive directors, liaisons.
Organize the spring section meetings
Provide minutes of all meetings to each state President
Promote the NIAAA
Assume all other duties as requested by the NIAAA President and or Ex. Dir.
These are just a snapshot of the responsibilities and duties of the board representative. It is a very rewarding and challenging opportunity to represent the entire country as well as New Jersey.
